Retail Liquor Store Associate
Pay: From $15.00 per hour
Job Description
Gamber Liquors is looking for 2-3 qualified individuals over the age of 21. Candidates with strong communication skills who can make customers feel welcome in our store will stand out. Responsible for providing excellent customer service, operating the cash register, stocking, checking customer identification to ensure compliance with Maryland alcohol laws, maintaining a clean and organized sales floor, receiving and putting away deliveries, and assisting customers with product selection. Employees are expected to follow all company policies, safely handle merchandise, and perform other duties as assigned. Must be at least 21 years old (or meet all applicable Maryland legal requirements for the position), be able to lift up to 50 pounds, and stand for extended periods. Evening, weekend, and holiday availability may be required.
Responsibilities
- Greet and direct customers
- Ensure self & staff do not sell to minors by carding at checkout
- Provide accurate information (e.g. product features, pricing and after-sales services)
- Answer customers’ questions about specific products/services
- Operate cash register to sell product(s)
- Ensure products are fully stocked
- Inform customers about discounts and special offers
- Stay up-to-date with new products/services
Skills
- Proven work experience as a Retail Sales Representative, Sales Associate or similar role
- Understanding of the retail sales process
- Familiarity with consumer behavior principles
- Knowledge of inventory stocking procedures
- Basic math skills
- Ability to lift (+/-) 50 lbs
- Excellent communication skills, capable of building trusting relationships
- Ability to perform in fast-paced environments
- Flexibility to work various shifts, including some weekends and holidays
- Previous experience selling MD Lottery and/or alcohol is preferred but not required
